Job summary

The City of Austin seeks a Journeyman-level Electrician for the AE Substation Construction group to install, maintain and repair high-voltage substations ranging from 69kV to 345kV. You will work with protective devices, switchgear, and testing equipment in a field setting.

Responsibilities include responding to outages, inspecting facilities, and coordinating with the supervisor. A Texas CDL A is required or obtainable within 120 days.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Four years of experience in electric utility field.
• Valid Texas CDL Class A or ability to obtain within 120 days.
• Knowledge of safety rules and PPE usage.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair substation equipment such as breakers and transformers.
• Respond to trouble calls and outages, including after-hours work.
• Inspect substations and log maintenance data.
• Set up and operate aerial equipment and lifting devices.
• Troubleshoot with test equipment (DMM, TTR, MRVD).
