City of Austin seeks an Electric Substation Technician to support Austin Energy’s substation installations, maintenance, and repairs. The role requires on-call duties and work with high-voltage equipment, cranes, bucket trucks, and specialized PPE.

Responsibilities include trouble response, data logging, and safe operation of aerial devices. A high school diploma and 4 years in a related electric utility field are required.

Formación

• Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus four (4) years of experience in a related electric utility field.
• Knowledge of AE safety rules and high-voltage work practices.
• Ability to pass tests for field and written assessments.

Responsabilidades

• Installs, maintains, and repairs substation equipment and related components.
• Responds to trouble calls and on-call outages.
• Operates aerial equipment and performs testing and calibration of electrical systems.
• Maintains maintenance logs and records data.
• Reviews work for accuracy and craftsmanship.
