Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton, CT seeks a D278 Test Supervisor to lead a team of Electronics Technicians in testing Combat and Weapons Systems on submarines.

Responsibilities include coordinating manpower, interfacing with engineers and Navy personnel, and driving safety, quality, cost, schedule and continuous improvement while mentoring staff.

This role requires strong communication, hands-on technical guidance, and the ability to work aboard submarines under construction or repair.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of 4 years of electrical/electronic trades or shipyard test experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead Electronics Test employees during testing of Combat and Weapons Systems cabling and components.
• Coordinate D278 staffing with project Chief Test Engineers.
• Serve as primary contact for testing needs between Chief Test Engineer and Electronics Technicians.
• Interface with engineers, Ships' Management, Quality, and Navy personnel to support tasks.
• Lead the team in safety, quality, cost, schedule and process improvement.
• Assign work; provide technical guidance, mentoring and performance assessments.
• Supervise attendance, training and disciplinary actions to maintain the department.
• Verify that certification test procedures are performed correctly.
• Interface with union leadership to resolve personnel or union issues.
• Maintain electronic test equipment, calibration schedules, purchasing and maintenance.
