Job summary

Northrop Grumman in San Diego, CA, seeks a Manager Structural Engineering 2 to lead the Analysis Value Stream for Reflectors & Booms. 100% on-site, reporting to the Analysis functional manager, you'll guide a team through static/dynamic analysis, FE modeling, and program execution across space-focused programs.

You'll collaborate with design, manufacturing, and technical SMEs, drive risk management and test planning, and support proposals with robust BOEs. US citizenship is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelors in STEM with 7+ years in engineering environment.
• Experience leading an engineering team on structural analysis.
• Experience in space/aerospace structural analysis of composites.
• Experience with design and verification processes.
• Experience with FEA, composite laminate theory, and dynamic analysis.
• Experience in materials manufacturing for extreme environments.
• US citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide analysis leadership for value stream and ensure quality, schedule and cost adherence.
• Coordinate with program leadership, manufacturing, testing, and SMEs across the OU.
• Lead/participate in product-level peer reviews and track FPY and on-time delivery.
• Ensure technical compliance and manage risk across programs in the value stream.
• Standardize analysis processes and drive lessons learned and continuous improvement.
• Produce FE models and perform modal, static, dynamic and thermo-elastic analyses.
• Oversee material characterization tests and coordinate with design groups.
• Present structural assessment results to internal and external stakeholders.
