Job summary

Johnson Service Group, Inc. is seeking a Lead Structural Design Engineer in Birmingham, AL, to guide the design for simple cycle power generation projects and mentor junior engineers.

You will create calculations, reviews, and drawings, while ensuring code compliance and constructability. The role supports procurement and field resolution of issues, with remote options available for certain assignments.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in structural engineering or equivalent.
• 8–15+ years in structural design engineering for power generation or heavyIndustrial.
• EPC project environments experience preferred.
• Design experience with reinforced concrete and structural steel.
• Experience with structural analysis software (GTStrudl, ANSYS, etc.).
• Familiarity with AISC, ACI, ASCE codes and local codes.
• PE License a plus, not required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a Lead Structural Design Engineer for simple cycle power generation projects.
• Create and review calculations, drawings, and models; lead design reviews and technical discussions.
• Mentor junior structural engineers.
• Assist construction with field issues and design clarifications.
• Ensure constructability and safety of all designs.
• Support procurement with material specifications.
• Participate in project scheduling and constructability reviews.
