Job summary

CRB is seeking a Structural Engineer IV in San Diego to lead medium-scale design efforts within life sciences and food/beverage sectors. You’ll collaborate with senior engineers, mentor junior staff, and take on client-facing responsibilities on projects of intermediate complexity.

You will develop drawings and specifications, perform structural calculations, and coordinate with architects, subcontractors, and vendors. Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit is preferred.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Bachelor’s degree in discipline-specific field.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience for Lead position, preferably in a design firm setting.
• Proficiency in structural-specific software.
• Advanced experience with engineering calculations and discipline systems design.
• Advanced experience with structural material codes.
• Intermediate experience with industry standards.
• Intermediate experience with building codes.
• Proficient at cross-discipline project team coordination.
• Proficient at coordinating with construction trade partners, vendors and manufacturers.
• Proficient at structural design calculations with limited supervision.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage discipline-specific design scope and budget on small to mid-sized projects.
• Develop construction drawing packages and specifications with minimal oversight.
• Conduct and lead field surveys, site walks, and construction field reporting.
• Identify and document non-compliant existing conditions during site visits.
• Interface with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors.
• Support proposal development and contribute to internal training presentations.
• Lead squad checks and discipline reviews to ensure design quality.
• Mentor Engineer I and Designer I/II team members.
• Assist in system design programming and master planning with senior support.
