Job summary

WSP USA is seeking a Lead Structural Engineer to join our Industrial Center of Excellence within the Property & Buildings business line. You will lead design and analysis for industrial facilities and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams through planning, design, construction and commissioning.

The role requires a PE license or ability to obtain within 12 months, 7+ years of experience, and proficiency with RAM, RISA, STAAD, ETABS, SAP2000, Revit and BIM workflows.

Lead Structural Engineer Opportunity

WSP is currently initiating a search for a Lead Structural Engineer to join our growing Industrial Center of Excellence (ICoE) within the Property & Buildings business line. Our Industrial CoE supports some of the world's most innovative industrial clients, delivering integrated engineering solutions for advanced manufacturing facilities, semiconductor and microelectronics facilities, battery manufacturing plants, life sciences and pharmaceutical production facilities, food and beverage facilities, mission-critical infrastructure, and logistics and distribution centers.

This position offers the opportunity to lead structural design efforts on complex industrial projects while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams throughout planning, design, construction, and commissioning. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership, support project delivery, and help develop innovative and practical solutions that promote safety, quality, constructability, and operational performance.

Your Impact
  • Lead structural engineering design and analysis for industrial, manufacturing, and advanced technology facilities.
  • Design and evaluate structural systems including steel-framed buildings, reinforced concrete structures, equipment foundations, support structures, pipe racks, platforms, and utility infrastructure.
  • Prepare and review structural calculations, technical reports, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Perform gravity, wind, seismic, vibration, and dynamic load analyses in accordance with applicable building codes and industry standards.
  • Coordinate with architectural, civil, mechanical, electrical, process, and other project disciplines to support integrated project delivery.
  • Support BIM-based project delivery utilizing Revit and other collaborative design platforms.
  • Participate in project planning, design reviews, constructability assessments, and quality assurance activities.
  • Review shop drawings, RFIs, submittals, and provide construction administration support.
  • Interface directly with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders to support project execution and technical problem-solving.
  • Mentor junior engineers and designers while contributing to the growth and development of the Industrial Center of Excellence.
  • Support business development activities, proposal efforts, and technical pursuits as needed.
  • Promote a culture of safety, quality, collaboration, and continuous improvement across project teams.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 7+ years of progressive structural engineering experience, including experience supporting industrial, manufacturing, logistics, mission-critical, or advanced technology facilities.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required or ability to obtain within 12 months.
  • Experience designing steel, reinforced concrete, and masonry structures.
  • Proficiency with structural analysis and design software such as RAM Structural System, RISA, STAAD, ETABS, SAP2000, or similar platforms.
  • Experience using Revit, AutoCAD, and BIM-based workflows.
  • Strong understanding of AISC, ACI, ASCE 7, IBC, and applicable industry standards.
  • Strong communication, technical writing, and multidisciplinary coordination skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deliver high-quality technical work within project schedules.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Structural Engineering.
  • Structural Engineer (SE) license.
  • Experience supporting advanced manufacturing, semiconductor, battery manufacturing, food and beverage, life sciences, pharmaceutical, or mission-critical facilities.
  • Experience with Navisworks and interdisciplinary BIM coordination.
  • Experience with equipment foundations, process support structures, pipe racks, crane-supporting structures, and dynamic loading applications.
  • Previous consulting engineering experience leading project tasks or technical teams.
  • Demonstrated mentorship and leadership experience.

Compensation

Expected Salary (all locations): $102,200- $151,800

WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
