Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a Structural Engineer / Inspection Team Leader to spearhead bridge and tunnel inspection contracts in New England, collaborating with MassDOT, RIDOT, CTDOT, and VTrans.

You will conduct NBIS/NTIS inspections, coordinate traffic closures, and manage equipment rentals while ensuring audit‑quality reports for DOTs. In the region, you may contribute to design and rehabilitation projects, including calculations, estimates, and reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Engineering degree is required.
• Substantial professional experience on bridge and/or tunnel inspection and design.
• Qualified NBIS team leader for bridge and tunnel inspections.
• Completed FHWA‑NHI two‑week course (Safety Inspection of In‑service Bridges).
• Completed FHWA‑NHI tunnel inspection course (Tunnel Safety Inspection).
• Experience performing NBIS inspections of various types of bridges.

Responsibilities

• Perform NBIS/NTIS inspections per standards.
• Schedule traffic closures and coordinate equipment rentals.
• Liaise with DOT personnel for bridge access and inspection coordination.
• Assist in completing, checking, and submitting inspection reports.
• Report audit‑quality results to the respective DOTs.
• Lead tunnel and bridge inspection teams and prepare related reports and estimates.
