Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Lead Structural Engineer to head the structural design for diverse building and infrastructure projects in George. You will oversee concepts through completion, mentor junior engineers, and coordinate with architects and other disciplines.

The role requires expertise in seismic design, concrete and steel structures, and proficiency with SAP2000, ETABS, and Revit. A strong leadership mentality and problem-solving mindset are essential.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Structural Engineering required.
  • Pr. Eng. registration with ECSA essential.
  • 10+ years in structural engineering, with 3+ years in leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Lead structural design process for diverse building and infrastructure projects.

  • Develop detailed drawings, specifications, and reports documenting design intent.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Lead Structural Engineer to join their dynamic team in George . This pivotal role involves leading the structural design aspects of various construction projects, ensuring the integrity, safety, and efficiency of all structural elements. You will mentor junior engineers, collaborate with architects and other disciplines, and take ownership of structural solutions from concept through to completion. Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the structural design process for a variety of building and infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with national and international standards.
  • Perform complex structural analysis and calculations using advanced software tools (e.g., SAP2000, ETABS, Revit).
  • Develop detailed structural drawings, specifications, and reports, clearly documenting design intent and methodologies.
  • Review designs and calculations prepared by junior engineers and provide constructive feedback and guidance.
  • Collaborate closely with architects, contractors, and other engineering disciplines to resolve design challenges and ensure seamless project integration.
  • Conduct site visits to monitor construction progress, verify structural elements, and address any site-related queries or issues.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in Structural Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of post-graduate experience in structural engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership or senior role.
  • Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) registration with ECSA is essential.
  • Expertise in seismic design, concrete structures, steel structures, and building materials.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis software and BIM tools.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities and strong leadership qualities to guide project teams effectively.
