Responsibilities

The Lead Structural Engineer is responsible for structural analysis of communication structures, including guyed, self-supporting towers, monopoles, mounts, rigging plans, rooftops, platform designs, site compounds, and foundations.

This role is for our wireless team. Industry experience is essential.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Review engineering service requests to ensure sufficient information is provided.
2. Assess tower structures and foundations for existing, proposed, and reserved tenant configurations.
3. Review mount analysis, rigging plans, construction drawings, and inspection reports.
4. Conduct site visits to verify proper implementation of engineering designs.
5. Follow established processes to initiate analysis projects accurately.
6. Perform complex analyses using hand calculations, software, and accepted methods.
7. Assist in designing modifications for telecommunication infrastructure, including reinforcements, extensions, and foundations.
8. Lead major upgrade projects with technical expertise.
9. Contribute innovative designs and techniques to solve engineering challenges.
10. Provide guidance and training to less experienced engineers.
11. Collaborate with designers on modification drawings and verify their accuracy.
12. Report project status accurately for customer and sales updates.
13. Adhere to Quality Control procedures.
14. Generate engineering reports as required.
15. Respond to structure-related inquiries from internal and external clients.
16. Complete complex engineering assignments involving detailed calculations.
17. Stay updated on new technical methods related to tower engineering.

Qualifications

Skills and Experience:

1. Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering; Master's preferred.
2. PE license required; ability to obtain licensure in multiple states preferred.
3. SE license and NCEES certification preferred.
4. At least 10 years of telecommunications experience and 15+ years in engineering.
5. Proficiency with AutoCAD and knowledge of TIA/EIA-222 standards.
6. Experience with structural analysis software and tower design methods.
7. Active membership in professional organizations is a plus.
8. Strong customer service, communication, planning, and organizational skills.
9. Ability to work independently and lead junior engineers.
