Job summary

Amentum's Advanced Solutions Group seeks a Structural Designer with 10–20 years of experience to lead drafting teams and develop 2D drawings and 3D models for complex structures. You will work on government and aerospace facility projects in a team setting.

Proficiency with CAD tools such as AutoCAD, Inventor, Revit, Creo, and Advance Steel is required. This on-site role is based in Detroit, MI with occasional travel and a focus on delivering designs within schedule and budget.

Qualifications

• US Citizen (government projects)
• 10–20 years in 2D drawings and 3D models of structures
• Two-year drafting training or two years of college with relevant courses plus eight years experience
• Working knowledge of CAE/CAD systems
• Proven leadership, organization, planning, and communication abilities
• Proficient in 2D/3D CAD development using CAD software

Responsibilities

• Provides drafting team leadership on major projects with scope/complexity; develops work plans and reviews progress
• Performs creative design from concepts and engineering analysis; coordinates with engineering and management
• Executes complex drafting tasks from computations and sketches
• Evaluates design feasibility and ensures conformance to specs; certifies drawing packages
• Prepares sketches and maintains drafting standards; assists in training drafting staff
• May operate CAD equipment and train others in its use
• Performs other related duties as required
