Job summary

Amentum's Advanced Solutions Group in Greenville, SC seeks a structural engineer with 5+ years of progressive design experience to lead multi-project efforts and deliver within scope, budget, and schedule.

You will manage engineers and drafters, perform design calculations, coordinate with clients, and contribute to proposals and project management. This on-site role requires US citizenship due to federal requirements. You will use STAAD/ANSYS and apply IBC/AISC/ACI/ASCE codes in daily work.

Qualifications

• BS or MS degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in the design and analysis of structural systems.
• Proficient in finite element modeling using STAAD and/or ANSYS.
• Proficient in building codes such as IBC, AISC, ACI, and ASCE.
• Demonstrated leadership ability to lead a small team of engineers and drafters.
• Strong time management and organizational skills.
• US Citizenship is required due to federal requirements.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage other structural engineers and drafters through all phases of project planning, execution, and construction.
• Provide complete design solutions from concept to final design and construction.
• Apply design loading to structures utilizing applicable building codes and design codes.
• Design and analyze structures using hand analysis and finite element analysis (STAAD and/or ANSYS).
• Develop engineering design calculation packages including static, dynamic, blast, vibration, and thermal stresses.
• Oversee development of 3D models and 2D construction drawings.
• Develop construction bid packages with calculations, specifications, and drawings.
• Perform site inspections at fabricators shops and construction sites.
• Provide leadership for junior engineers and drafter/designers.
• Coordinate design solutions with clients and other engineering disciplines.
• Assist with project planning, cost estimating, proposals, project management, and marketing.
• Must be able to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplined team.
