Job summary

MFS Engineers & Surveyors is seeking a driven CAD Operator/Drafter to lead structural drafting projects in our South Plainfield, NJ office. The role involves developing structural plans from concept to construction documents and mentoring junior staff, under supervision of the Structural Project Manager and Principal Engineer.

Requires a degree or cert in drafting, 6+ years CAD experience, and NJ/NY P.E. license. This is an in-person, full‑time position with a salary range of $75,000–$100,000.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical certification in Drafting, Design Technology, or related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of professional CAD drafting experience.
• Experience in AutoCAD and/or Revit.
• NJ and/or NY P.E. License (Required).
• Driver's License and reliable transportation.
• Background check (required).
• Excellent written and verbal communication and organization skills.
• Bachelor's degree is required; Master's preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare design development drawings and final construction documents
• Prepare plans, elevations, sections, and details
• Support standardization efforts including templates, blocks, layers, and drafting procedures
• Coordinate drawing content with project team members (architect, civil, mechanical, electrical, plumbing)
• Perform QA/QC of CAD review
• Mentor and train structural engineering staff
• Other duties as assigned
