Job summary

McAdams is a full-service land planning, landscape architecture, civil engineering, transportation, and geomatics firm in Raleigh, NC, seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead stormwater and site design projects with a focus on quality and continuous improvement.

You will collaborate with project managers and teams, manage schedules and budgets, mentor junior engineers, and maintain strong client relationships while delivering compliant reports and plans.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree required.
• EI/EIT required; PE preferred.
• 7+ years of civil site design experience.
• Expertise in AutoCAD Civil 3D is essential.
• Strong knowledge of local, state, and federal regs for land development, zoning, and permitting.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and track schedules/budgets.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex engineering challenges.
• Strong verbal and written communication; experience leading meetings and preparing reports.
• Mentoring junior staff and fostering teamwork.
• Proven ability to build and maintain strong client relationships and set expectations.

Responsibilities

• Possess knowledge to solve complex stormwater problems and deliver projects independently and seal reports.
• Strong technical knowledge of stormwater conveyance engineering and flood studies.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, Technical Managers, and project team for successful delivery.
• Operate effectively under project timeframes to keep deliverables on schedule.
• Assist Project Manager with workload, deadlines, and resource scheduling.
• Maintain awareness of project financial performance and budgets.
• Assure quality on all projects and assist with design standards development.
• Train and mentor junior team members in technical development.
• Delegate tasks to production staff and review work for submittal readiness.
• Meet with clients and stakeholders to present stormwater engineering information clearly.
