Under the direction of the Supervisor Steward, the Lead Steward is responsible for assisting in maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen, service pantry, silverware, china, and glassware. The role involves leading the Stewarding team, ensuring adherence to health and safety regulations, and supporting the department's efficient operation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Lead and assist Utility Workers in maintaining cleanliness and order in culinary work areas and equipment. Supervise kitchen operations when delegated by management.
2. Ensure cleanliness, organization, and sanitation of workspaces and equipment, following established procedures and regulations.
3. Train team members in chemical safety and food handling practices, practicing safe sanitation duties.
4. Manage inventory, report equipment issues, and maintain a tidy work station.
5. Support other team members and complete assigned projects promptly.
6. Enforce health and safety regulations.
7. Perform additional duties to support departmental efficiency.

Educational, Experience, and Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least two years’ experience in stewarding, housekeeping, or related fields, preferably in a hotel or casino setting.
• One year of lead experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and Word.
• Effective communication skills in English.
• Basic math skills.
• Friendly, efficient service orientation.
• Ability to work under pressure and maintain composure during busy periods.

Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations

• Possibly required to obtain a gaming license as per San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission.
• Food Handler’s Card required.
• Driving responsibilities vary; role may require a valid driver’s license and insurance depending on duties.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

The role involves working in a climate-controlled casino environment, with requirements for physical activities such as lifting, standing, and moving in a fast-paced setting. Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
