Job Summary: The Lead, Sterile Processing Technician maintains high standards in processing instruments, patient care equipment, and supplies, ensuring compliance with JCAHO standards efficiently. The role involves resource utilization, support of departmental operations, and processing patient charges, adhering to standards set by AAMI, JCAHO, CDC, and state regulations.

Essential Functions:

1. Performs decontamination, manual cleaning, and processing of surgical instruments and patient care equipment according to manufacturer instructions.
2. Uses appropriate detergents and disinfectants, adhering to safety precautions.
3. Manages inventory, stocks supplies, and maintains proper levels, rotating stock as needed.
4. Documents quality control activities, focusing on instrument tracking, surgery schedules, and supply management, ensuring sterilization and infection control standards.
5. Operates sterilizers, monitors sterilization processes, and ensures quality through indicators.
6. Records activities and reports variances affecting patient safety or product sterility.

Education: High School Diploma or GED required.

Licensing & Certifications: Must hold CRCST, HSPA, CSPDT, or CBSPD certification; CIS and CER are preferred.

Experience: Minimum 3 years required; 5 years preferred.

Skills & Abilities: Ability to follow instructions, work independently and under pressure, possess surgical conscience, demonstrate professionalism, and work effectively in a team, among others.

Training: EPIC experience preferred.
