JOB SUMMARY:
Works under the supervision of the Instrument Processing Supervisor, assisting with daily operations in the Sterile Processing Department (SPD). Acts as a resource for SPD and other departments, providing excellent customer service and maintaining communication with the Sterile Processing Supervisor.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or GED with at least two years of Sterile Processing experience.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR REGISTRATION:
Certification as a Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) or equivalent is required. Certification in Sterile Processing Management is encouraged within three years of hire.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 25 pounds, operate computer programs such as Excel, and order instruments via PeopleSoft.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Exposure to bodily fluids, tissue, chemical agents, steam, heat, and sharp instruments. Risks include bloodborne diseases, burns, cuts, and abrasions. Must wear PPE and follow safety protocols. Environment may be loud, stressful, and subject to interruptions and unpredictable situations.
