Job summary

Starting immediately, the position requires a four- to five-year apprenticeship and six years of journeyman steamfitter experience, EPA refrigerant certification, and a valid California driver's license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a four- to five-year apprenticeship.
• Six years of journeyman steamfitter experience.

Responsibilities

• Oversee installation, repair, and servicing of piping and related systems.
• Inspect, repair, install, test heating systems, pumps, gauges and related components.
• Install piping on new construction and existing facilities maintenance or modernization projects.
• Install piping of various materials including carbon steel, cast iron, copper, plastic, fiberglass, stainless steel.
• Disassemble, repair, troubleshoot, and maintain steam boilers, hot water boilers and gas furnaces.
• Maintain, repair and replace thermostats, pumps, valves, gauges, gas valves, fans and air compressors.
• Install heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, boilers, steam lines, gas lines.
• Cover pipes and boilers with insulation materials.
• Provide work direction and guidance to assigned personnel.
• Coordinate with District employees, architects, engineers and outside contractors.
