Job summary

Oakland Unified School District Buildings & Grounds is seeking a Plumber and Irrigation Plumber to perform skilled journey-level plumbing work across district facilities. Immediate starting date; reports to Assigned Supervisor in Maintenance.

Requires a high school diploma and two years of journey-level plumbing experience, plus a valid California Driver’s License and safety compliance. 261 days per year, 8.0 hours per day; non-exempt status.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school and two years of journey-level plumbing experience.
• Valid California Driver’s License.
• Employment eligibility including fingerprints and tuberculosis clearance.

Responsibilities

• Install and repair general plumbing.
• Install water piping and tap main water lines.
• Install sewer piping and tap sewer mains and laterals.
• Renew pipes, valves, and fittings.
• Repair and replace plumbing fixtures and assemblies.
• Weld and braze joints.
• Clean and repair drains, waste, and sewer pipes.
• Repair, replace, and adjust domestic hot water systems.
• Conduct swimming pool maintenance related to workscope.
• Complete work assignments from plans, oral and written instructions.
