Job summary

Harvard University is seeking a Steamfitter to install, maintain, and repair commercial-scale heating and cooling systems across campus facilities. The role requires a Massachusetts State License and five years of steam/ hot water system experience, with the option for Journeyman/Master Pipefitter certification.

Responsibilities include interpreting plans, installing piping, and ensuring safety standards. You may work in a lab environment, handle overtime, and wear required PPE while delivering

Qualifications

• Five years experience installing and maintaining commercial or institutional scale heating and cooling systems.
• Massachusetts State License required; Journeyman or Master Pipefitter license preferred for minimum period of five years.
• Five years’ experience maintaining Steam or Hot Water Systems.
• Valid State driver’s license and driving history satisfactory to meet Campus Services standards.

Responsibilities

• Installs, modifies, and repairs boilers, heating systems, cooling systems and auxiliary equipment.
• Fabricates, installs, modifies and repairs high and low pressure piping systems.
• Interprets mechanical plans and prints and updates as necessary.
• Assists and advises customers on progress / status of work and provides responsive and effective customer support in all phases of building maintenance operations.
• Performs installation, maintenance, inspection and testing per Massachusetts State Building Code and university standards.
• May work independently or as part of a multi-trade team under supervision.
• Willing to work in research laboratory environments and around hazardous materials.
• Able to accept overtime to support group business needs.
• Wear proper safety clothing/equipment and maintain professional image.
• Supply a complete set of hand tools.
