Job summary

St. Joseph’s Health in Paterson, NJ seeks a skilled boiler room supervisor to coordinate maintenance and repair activities across hospital facilities.

You will inspect systems, supervise projects, and oversee operation of boilers, chillers, cooling towers, emergency generators and related equipment.

Candidates should hold a High School diploma and a Stationary Engineer license; Gold Seal preferred; Blue Seal Refrigeration preferred; Confined Space Certification preferred.

Qualifications

• Work requires a High School diploma or equivalent and five to seven years of previous work related experience.
• Red Seal (Gold Seal Preferred) Stationary Engineers License required, Blue Seal Refrigeration License preferred and Confined Space Certification preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with no pending violations and an acceptable driving record as stipulated by SJH policy and, if applicable, the SJH insurance carrier, for those required to drive a hospital vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate boiler room maintenance and repair activities across hospital facilities.
• Routinely inspect properties to identify problems with systems or equipment.
• Supervise special projects or shutdowns within the hospital complex.
• Supervise and lead staff in one or more disciplines within the department.
• Oversee operation and maintenance of all boilers and related auxiliary equipment.
• Operate and maintain all electric and steam chillers, cooling towers, VD drives, air compressors, and related auxiliary equipment.
• Lead maintenance for all emergency generators, fuel storage tanks, and associated equipment.
