Job summary

Mattermost seeks an experienced Lead Site Reliability Engineer to guide architecture, reliability, and operational excellence for its secure collaboration platform. You will provide technical leadership across SRE, drive scalability, observability, performance, and automation across cloud and hybrid environments.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of site reliability engineering, DevOps, or cloud infrastructure roles.
• Proven expertise with container orchestration, ideally Kubernetes.
• Strong background in infrastructure-as-code, ideally Terraform.
• Experience in cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
• Experience designing monitoring, alerting, and performance optimization strategies.

Responsibilities

• Define the strategy, architecture, and roadmap for Mattermost’s SRE function.
• Lead deployment and optimization of production-grade containerized workloads and compliant cloud environments.
• Establish observability, monitoring, and alerting frameworks at scale.
• Drive incident management processes, on-call rotations, and root-cause analyses.
• Partner with security and compliance teams to meet regulatory requirements.
• Champion automation and operational excellence to improve efficiency and reliability.
• Oversee cloud cost management and capacity planning.
• Build and maintain a developer platform for fast, secure software delivery.
• Mentor and coach SRE team members and foster a culture of learning.
