Qualifications

  • Two years’ experience as a Special Tech in a hospital setting.
  • Graduate of an educational program accredited by JRCERT or Military equivalent.
  • Licensed as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) in Texas.

Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Lead Special Procedures Technologist, you will be responsible for operating the imaging equipment and producing radiographs according to the standards and practices set forth by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. You will assist the radiologist or physician to perform interventional procedures. You will demonstrate knowledge of the human structure and functions, patient care, positioning, principles of radiographic sciences, radiation protection and specialized techniques unique to the Special Procedures environment. You will exercise professional judgment in performance of services and maintain a demeanor complementary of medical ethics. You will participate in providing specific care standards as directed, and follow service excellence standards to ensure high levels of patient satisfaction.

  • You will lead and oversee the Special Procedures Department to ensure the quality of work
  • You will coordinate and prioritize the department workflow to ensure completion of work assignments
  • You will be accountable for Special Procedures Department functions and responsibilities
  • You will contribute to the effective management of the Department
  • You will consistently produce films of optimal diagnostic quality on patients ranging from adolescent to geriatric
  • You will follow established routine Special Procedures protocols
  • You will operate the fluoroscopy and digital equipment efficiently and effectively, demonstrate the ability to trouble-shoot equipment failures

Job Qualifications

Experience

  • Two years’ experience as a Special Tech in a hospital setting

Education

  • Graduate of an educational program in radiology accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) or graduate of an American Medical Association approved program in Radiologic Technology or a military training program of equivalent standards.
  • Associate’s Degree or higher in Radiologic Technology – preferred

Licenses and Certifications

  • Licensed Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT) with the Texas Medical Board or Certified Medical Radiologic Technologist (CMRT) with the Texas Department of State Health Services
  • Registered Technologist with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) primary certification in Radiography – ARRT (R)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification as per SDH policy
  • Post primary certification in Cardiovascular-Intervention Technology – preferred
