Job summary

Indianapolis Public Schools in Indianapolis seeks a Lead Special Education Generalist to organize and manage supports across the district, providing direct instructional and behavioral support to assigned schools and driving IEP processes.

You will mentor staff, coordinate onboarding, monitor caseloads, and collaborate with principals, teachers, parents, and support staff to accelerate learning for students with disabilities.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years as a special educator with at least 1 year as an instructional coach.
• Working knowledge of federal/state special education laws (IDEA and Article 7).
• Ability to build strong working relationships with diverse groups.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct support for teachers, coaches, and administrators.
• Leads and collaborates to align school initiatives with IPS USS Department vision.
• Develops IEPs, behavior plans, and facilitates case conferences as needed.
• Monitors caseloads, reviews data, and informs planning and decisions.
• Mentors team members in schedule management and I-TEAM processes.
• Communicates with staff, parents, and guardians to address concerns.
