Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design and qualification of spaceflight pressure vessels and composite propellant tanks in Long Beach, CA. You will own Creo models, GD&T, and BOMs while partnering with PM, analysis, supply chain, and manufacturing to meet mission requirements.

You will drive sustaining engineering, test programs, and act as the main technical point of contact for customers on key programs, with a strong emphasis on DFMA and aerospace standards.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of mechanical design engineering experience with real drawing ownership.
• Strong CAD skills (Creo preferred), plus DFMA and GD&T.
• Working knowledge of stress analysis and FEA — enough to interpret results and iterate the design.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and qualification of spaceflight pressure vessels and composite propellant tanks for defense and space customers.
• Create and own 3D models and drawings in Creo, including GD&T, manufacturing and inspection requirements, and BOMs.
• Develop design solutions to customer mission and schedule requirements, working alongside program management, analysis, supply chain, and manufacturing.
• Sustain existing product lines: nonconformance review and disposition, RCCA, and drawing revisions.
• Guide material coupon and tank qualification test programs and review the resulting test data.
• Act as the direct technical point of contact for the customer on assigned programs.
