Job summary

Blue Origin in Washington state seeks an senior aerospace Systems Engineer to lead spacecraft program efforts, shaping requirements, interfaces, and verification for multi‑mission systems. You will mentor engineers and coordinate with mission management, architecture, and AIT to ensure mission success and customer satisfaction.

Required are 15+ years in aerospace systems engineering, a bachelor’s or higher, and a TS/SCI clearance; relocation is provided and travel up to 10% may be expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering or a related technical field.
  • 15+ years of experience crafting, developing, and launching aerospace systems (robotic spacecraft preferred).
  • At least 6 years of expertise in aerospace systems engineering.
  • Proven track record leading aerospace projects from requirements definition to verification.
  • Strong understanding of SE processes and the Systems Engineering V model.
  • Excellent problem‑solving and trade study abilities.
  • Leadership or management experience with mentoring teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Top Secret/SCI clearance required.

Responsibilities

  • Offer spacecraft expertise and leadership to guide the systems engineering team hands‑on and as a mentor.
  • Structure and allocate requirements, manage changes, and define interfaces efficiently.
  • Collaborate with mission management and the systems architect to understand team needs.
  • Ensure requirements are applicable for builds within a multi‑mission product line.
  • Plan and develop verification methods and events.
  • Conduct technical analyses, trade studies, and research.
  • Design mission threads to integrate spacecraft with external systems.
  • Finalize vehicle specifications with verification and validation data from AIT.
