Job summary

Amazon Kuiper Manufacturing Enterprises LLC seeks a highly innovative mechanical engineer to design and develop spacecraft mechanisms for production. You will identify requirements through cross-disciplinary negotiation, apply research and creativity, and drive designs to simple, cost-effective solutions while meeting reliability goals.

This hands-on role requires extensive mechanical analysis expertise, CAD modeling, and the ability to lead multiple design trades while advancing vehicle design

Qualifications

• Bachelors in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• Lead engineer with aerospace, defense or automotive design/manufacturing experience.
• Experience with interdisciplinary teams and product design for production.

Responsibilities

• Identify and analyze requirements and conduct trade studies on mechanism design.
• Create and iterate CAD models including geometry, materials, lubrication, assembly, and test methods.
• Analyze loads (static, dynamic, thermal, fatigue) for compliance.
• Develop test plans and reliability analyses; perform DOEs and statistics.
• Define qualification plans and acceptance testing for volume production.
• Evaluate cost trades across configurations to balance cost and design risk.
• Produce complete design packages: drawings, analyses, BOMs, and assembly docs.
