Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Mechanical Engineer, Mechanisms for the Crew Starship program to design and build spacecraft structures and mechanisms critical to future astronauts. You will own designs from requirements through qualification, prototype, and integration.

You will perform hand calculations/FEA, iterate on manufacturing processes, and collaborate with teams and suppliers to ensure mission success and timely delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.
• 1+ years of mechanical design and analysis experience.
• 3+ years of professional mechanical design/analysis experience.
• Aerospace/aviation industry familiarity.
• GD&T knowledge.
• Strong data-driven decision skills.
• Experience with NX/Ansys/Abaqus.
• Leadership or project-team experience.

Responsibilities

• Own design, analysis, and manufacturing of Starship structures and mechanisms.
• Perform hand calculations and FEA to optimize designs.
• Iterate manufacturing processes in fast-paced environment.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams for integration.
• Lead design reviews with suppliers and NASA.
• Conduct trade studies balancing cost, schedule, safety, and performance.
• Ensure delivery timeline from design to production, launch, and recovery.
