Job summary

Impulse Space in Redondo Beach seeks a Lead for Spacecraft Mechanisms to own the design, analysis, implementation, operation, sustainment, and improvement of spacecraft mechanisms. You will work with an agile team delivering high-performance components for flight vehicles.

The role requires a Bachelor's in engineering, 5+ years in spacecraft mechanisms, and leadership experience. Expect ownership of the mechanism development cycle from concept to flight operations and collaboration with

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science or related field.
  • 5+ years of demonstrated experience in spacecraft mechanisms.
  • Past results developing, testing, and flying spacecraft mechanisms as a technical individual contributor.
  • Strong technical knowledge in one or more spacecraft mechanism types.
  • Professional experience managing and growing a team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of all-star responsible engineers on mechanisms and components including deployable structures, actuators, solar modules, and separation systems.
  • Determine product roadmap of spacecraft mechanisms by working closely with partner teams, leadership, and business development.
  • Architect and implement engineering processes to streamline mechanism development, test, and sustainment through production ramp.
  • Create and execute spacecraft mechanism test campaigns.
  • Work with wide ranging teams across engineering, manufacturing, and operations to deliver reliable high-performing components to flight vehicles.
  • Direct technical ownership and individual contributor work of a mechanism.
