Job summary

Axiom Space is seeking a resilient, high-energy Project Engineer onsite at our Spaceport Facility. You will lead complex mechanical engineering projects, ensure NASA and FAA compliance, and mentor engineers across the Project Engineer ladder.

The role reports to the Manager, Project Engineering and requires direct engagement with cross-functional teams to drive design and development of Crew systems for the first commercial Station.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; 11–15 years leading engineering projects.
• Spaceflight hardware design background preferred.
• Experience with NASA requirements and spaceflight hardware development and certification preferred.
• Experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project).
• Experience with SOLIDWORKS 3D modeling software or similar CAD tool.

Responsibilities

• Own a single large or highly complex project, providing SME in project engineering practice.
• Provide SME on requirements development and traceability within the project.
• Own the schedule for a single large or highly complex project.
• Own the risk picture for a single large or highly complex project.
• Coordinate work scope across the project and resolve technical disputes.
• Represent the project’s technical status to leadership and cross-functional teams.
• Mentor engineers across the Project Engineer ladder, including Level IV engineers.
• Lead engineering assessment for proposals or new-business efforts within the program.
• Pilot new technical standards and process changes before rollout.
• Represent the Group in cross-program or company-wide reviews and forums.
