Job summary

Axiom Space is seeking a Project Engineer III to join the Crew system product development team for the first commercial space station. This onsite role reports to the Manager, Project Engineering and involves coordinating complex engineering scopes from conception to completion.

The candidate will support design and development activities, lead scope execution, mentor junior engineers, and ensure compliance with NASA and FAA requirements in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 5-8 years of experience leading Engineering projects, preferably in space.
• Spaceflight hardware design background preferred.
• Experience with NASA requirements and contracts and spaceflight hardware dev.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, schedule, coordinate, and manage a large or moderately complex scope of work.
• Develop and maintain project requirements for large or moderately complex scope.
• Create and maintain a project schedule for large or moderately complex scope.
• Identify and manage risk for large or moderately complex scope.
• Mentor Level I and II engineers within the program.
• Serve as CAM equivalent for assigned scope, owning cost, schedule, and EV reporting where applicable.
• Manage procurement requests within the approved budget for large scope of work.
• Review supplier technical submittals with Supply Chain on sourcing questions.
• Ensure products meet NASA standards, FAA regulations, and safety requirements.
