Job summary

Qualifications

• 5+ years of hands-on hardware or product design experience, including building prototypes.
• Degree in mechanical, electrical, aerospace or materials engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Demonstrated design ownership from concept through prototype build and test.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD and engineering drawings, including tight tolerances for thin parts.
• PV electrical design fundamentals and current-voltage characterization.
• Thermomechanical judgement for mismatches and stress in laminates.
• Structured test planning with clear decisions from small sample sets.
• Clear technical writing and meticulous records for reviews.

Responsibilities

• Define prototype requirements and translate into design specs and verification plans.
• Design module layouts, interconnects, and mechanical build of laminates and carriers.
• Create and maintain CAD models, BOMs, mass and thickness budgets, and reports.
• Build prototypes hands-on with technicians, test fixtures, and tooling.
• Plan and run design verification campaigns and feed findings into iterations.
• Work with process engineers to set design rules and tolerances.
• Own design documentation and support government program reviews.
