Job summary

Joe's Seafood, Prime Steak & Stone Crab in Illinois is hiring a Sous Chef to lead BOH operations across busy dining rooms. The role requires 2–3 years of sous chef experience in a full-service restaurant and the ability to manage kitchen staff, plan prep, and ensure consistent food quality.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years of sous chef experience in a full-service restaurant.
• Ability to lead and manage the kitchen staff.

Responsibilities

• Run BOH shifts, manage kitchen operations, and supervise BOH teams.
• Lead BOH pre-shift meetings, line checks, tastings and recipe maintenance.
• Purchase food and supplies, track costs, and ensure quality control.
• Coordinate communication between FOH and BOH; train and develop staff.
• Hire, onboard and develop BOH employees; promote teamwork and mentorship.
• Work varied shifts, including early mornings, late nights and weekends; travel as needed.
• Move and lift up to 50 pounds.
