Job summary

MBK Senior Living is seeking a dedicated Sous Chef for a full-time role in Thousand Oaks, CA. The position supports the Executive Chef and Dining Services Director, delivering high-quality meals aligned with menus, dietary needs, and resident preferences.

You will lead kitchen staff, manage daily operations, and ensure food safety, portioning, and presentation meet our standards. Requires 3+ years cooking, ServeSafe, and strong leadership abilities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• A culinary training certification and/or degree is preferred.
• ServeSafe Certification is required.
• Current Food Handler's permit is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide interim leadership and oversight for kitchen staff.
• Prepare all food according to planned menus and recipes.
• Ensure food is served at correct temperatures and properly portioned.
• Assist with purchasing, inventory, and supplier communications.
• Record temperatures of refrigeration equipment and conduct QA tests.
• Lead pre-meal meetings and support staff during peak hours.
