Job summary

Northern Light Mercy Hospital in Portland, Maine, seeks a Sonographer to perform two-dimensional ultrasound studies across prenatal through geriatric patients under the supervision of the Lead Sonographer and Chief Technologist.

The incumbent will supervise Level I/II Sonographers, instruct students, troubleshoot equipment, and maintain QA records while upholding HIPAA, safety, and hospital policies.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an accredited school of Ultrasonography with progressive experience and technical skills in Ultrasonography.
• Licenses/Certifications: Current/Active RDMS required. Registered in two or more specialty areas of Ultrasonography.

Responsibilities

• Produces two-dimensional ultrasonic images of internal organs for diagnostic purposes across prenatal to geriatric patients.
• Supervises Level I and II Sonographers and provides instruction to students.
• Troubleshoots all ultrasound equipment; maintains QA records and participates in QA program.
• Maintains aseptic technique and ensures patient safety and HIPAA compliance.
• Coordinates with manager and staff to ensure timely exams and accurate documentation and charges.
• Responds to emergencies and supports inter-departmental collaboration as needed.
