Qualifications

• Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography program meeting ARDMS requirements.
• RDMS and RVT credentials with timelines.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• BLS certification.
• Preferred: 1+ year experience as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer/Vascular Tech.

Responsibilities

• Performs ultrasound examinations with cognitive skills to identify and document findings and communicates results to the radiologist.
• Ensures patient safety and comfort throughout exams.
• Introduces self, verifies patient identity, explains the exam and answers questions while maintaining patient safety.
• Operates imaging equipment safely and sequences exams efficiently to minimize patient stay.
• Maintains equipment QC and reports malfunctions to supervision.
• Interacts with physicians and staff to provide safe, quality patient care.
• Provides instruction to students and coordinates with ancillary personnel as needed.
• Assists supervisor with divisional paperwork and essential educational assignments.
• Performs duties according to unit competencies and health system policies.
