Job summary

Pearson is seeking a Lead Specialist, Solution Architect to shape the architecture behind OnVUE online proctored testing, guiding multiple engineering teams through modernisation of secure, scalable delivery.

You will translate business needs into practical designs, lead technical decisions without formal authority, and mentor engineers across squads while ensuring architectural consistency.

Qualifications

• Progressive experience in software engineering or solution architecture.
• Strong Java enterprise architecture experience, including Spring / Spring Boot.
• Experience across front-end and back-end tech, incl. Angular.
• Cloud platforms experience, Azure preferred; AWS also relevant.
• Kubernetes, containers, orchestration and cloud-native delivery.
• Experience leading technical decisions across multiple teams without formal authority.

Responsibilities

• Own solution architecture from discovery through production adoption.
• Translate business needs into secure, scalable and maintainable designs.
• Set direction across squads and maintain architectural consistency.
• Mentor engineers and communicate recommendations to stakeholders.
• Resolve complex integration and build issues and evaluate trade-offs.
