Job summary

Pearson is seeking a Lead Specialist, Solution Architect to drive architecture across multiple engineering teams for the OnVUE online proctored testing platform. You will translate business needs into scalable, secure designs and guide delivery from discovery to production adoption.

The role combines deep Java and cloud-native expertise with the ability to influence without formal authority, mentoring engineers and aligning squads around architectural standards across a modernized assessment

Qualifications

• Progressive experience in software engineering or solution architecture.
• Strong Java enterprise architecture experience with Spring/Spring Boot.
• Experience spanning front-end and back-end (Angular).
• Cloud platform experience (Azure preferred; AWS also relevant).
• Kubernetes, containers and cloud-native delivery.
• Experience designing scalable, reliable distributed apps and operator health.
• Proven ability to lead technical decisions across multi-team groups.

Responsibilities

• Own solution architecture from discovery to production adoption.
• Translate business needs into secure, scalable designs.
• Set technical direction across squads and ensure consistency.
• Guide teams through implementation while preserving architectural intent.
• Evaluate trade-offs across scalability, resilience, and security.
