Qualifications

• BS degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related technical field.
• 15+ years of software architecture and development experience.
• 7+ years designing and implementing microservices, RESTful APIs, event-driven systems at enterprise scale.
• 5+ years cloud architecture experience (AWS, Azure, or GCP) including containerization with Docker/Kubernetes.
• Strong hands-on coding skills in Java, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, C#, or Go with production-quality code.
• Demonstrated experience building consensus across diverse stakeholders and leadership.
• Expert knowledge of API design, API management, and service mesh architectures.
• Security architecture expertise (OAuth/OIDC/SAML) and federal compliance requirements (FISMA, FedRAMP).
• Experience with DevSecOps, CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, automated testing, and deployment automation.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills with ability to influence at all levels.
• Experience mentoring architects and senior engineers.

Responsibilities

• Define and articulate the technical vision and multi-year roadmap for modernization, gaining buy-in from IT leadership and stakeholders.
• Lead design and implementation of modern, cloud-native architectures leveraging microservices, API-first design, and containerization.
• Design, build, and deploy ML models and data pipelines using Python, PyTorch, or Keras with MLOps practices.
• Develop low-code/no-code business applications using AI and automation tools like Power Automate or UIPath.
• Drive consensus across cross-functional teams to align technical solutions with business outcomes.
• Provide hands-on technical leadership through proofs-of-concept, prototypes, and demonstrations to validate decisions.
• Champion AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) to boost SDLC productivity and code quality.
• Lead technology evaluation for frameworks, platforms, APIs, and infrastructure aligned with federal requirements.
• Create API strategies and integration architectures with customer ecosystems and upstream/downstream systems.
• Establish security patterns, zero-trust principles, and governance for modernization initiatives.
• Partner with SRE managers to architect DevSecOps pipelines, IaC, and observability solutions.
• Mentor architects and staff, promoting technical excellence and continuous learning.
