Job summary

First Solar in South Carolina seeks a senior process engineer to lead process or equipment improvements under the oversight of the Area Manager or Sr. Managers, and to manage engineers and technicians on projects to meet Manufacturing P90 metrics.

You will collaborate with Development Engineering, Global Supply Chain and Quality & Reliability to resolve technical issues and develop robust manufacturing processes, following the CMS stage-gate process and working with Global Alignment Team to

Qualifications

• 8 years process engineering and/or R&D experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Fluent with statistical analysis methods and tools; adept at analyzing big data with JMP or Minitab.
• Experience in Photovoltaics Manufacturing Flow or Technology Development in Thin Film Vacuum Deposition, Glass processing, or Semiconductor processes.
• Familiar with Materials Analysis methods (optical, X-ray spectroscopy, microscopy, electrical characterization).
• Ability to lead small technical teams with goal-setting and performance management.
• Bachelor/Master/PhD in Engineering or Physical Science or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Develop, continually improve, and document robust solar module manufacturing processes to achieve high product performance cost-effectively.
• Perform in-depth investigations into process issues.
• Evaluate new proposed equipment according to process standards.
• Review process experiment proposals and results.
• Define and implement corrective/preventive actions and CI activities.
• Adhere to safety procedures and housekeeping; lead local task forces and project teams.
