Job summary

Shannon & Wilson, an employee-owned geotechnical consulting firm, seeks a Soils Lab Manager to lead laboratory testing and daily lab operations. The role requires hands-on testing, data processing, and supervision of lab technicians.

The position emphasizes accreditation maintenance, client communication, and adherence to quality and safety policies across multiple offices. Travel will be required as needed.

Qualifications

• BS Civil Engineering or Geology preferred.
• 5–9 years of laboratory experience in geotechnical testing.
• Experience with geotechnical lab equipment and software.
• Strong writing, organization and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel to support multiple offices.

Responsibilities

• Perform geotechnical soils laboratory testing (gradations, swell, Atterberg limits, compaction, strength tests).
• Maintain lab accreditation, certifications and calibrations.
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and data software.
• Prepare test progress reports and present results to clients.
• Supervise lab technicians and ensure QA and safety compliance.
