Job summary

Shannon & Wilson, Inc. is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to perform analyses, write reports, and conduct field investigations. The role involves lab testing, client interaction, and potential travel to support multiple offices.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering; MS or PhD in Geotechnical Engineering strongly preferred.
• 0–6 years of experience in Geotechnical Engineering.
• Have obtained or in process of receiving an Engineer-in-Training Certificate.
• On track to obtain Professional Engineering (PE) License.
• Experience in soil/rock mechanics, slope stability, foundations, tunneling, seismic design, and related areas.
• Field/construction observation experience and/or coursework is preferred.
• Excellent writing, organizational, and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel to support other Shannon & Wilson offices.

Responsibilities

• Perform geotechnical engineering analyses and calculations.
• Prepare and write engineering reports.
• Conduct field explorations and sampling, mapping, and reconnaissance.
• Provide construction observation and documentation on job sites.
• Perform geotechnical lab testing and communicate results.
• Interact with clients, vendors, and staff at all levels.
• Support marketing activities including preparation of cost proposals.
• Adhere to Quality Assurance, Health & Safety policies.
