Job summary

Shannon & Wilson is seeking a Soils Lab Manager to lead geotechnical soils lab testing and daily operations. Responsibilities include supervising technicians, maintaining accreditations, and communicating results to clients. Travel to support other offices is required.

Applicants should have a BS in Civil Engineering or Geology and 5–9 years of lab experience, with strong writing and organizational skills. A valid driver’s license and ability to work in varied conditions are expected.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering or Geology preferred.
• 5–9 years of laboratory experience.
• Experience completing geotechnical soils laboratory tests.
• Ability to travel to support other Shannon & Wilson offices.

Responsibilities

• Perform geotechnical soils laboratory testing (gradations, swell, Atterberg limits, compaction, strength tests).
• Maintain laboratory accreditation, certifications, and calibrations.
• Use and maintain scientific testing equipment; process test data.
• Communicate test progress and present results; supervise lab technicians.
• Ensure testing practices comply with standards; interact with clients.
