Job summary

SSTi in Dahlgren, VA seeks an experienced Lead Software System Safety Engineer (EC3) to lead software safety analyses, risk assessments, and testing for complex weapon-system software.

You will defend safety conclusions before review panels, coordinate data packages (SRHA/SAR), and present to WSESRB and SSSTRP. Proficiency in C++/C#, code reviews, and strong technical leadership are required to succeed in this role.

Qualifications

• BS degree in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline.
• At least seven years of professional software engineering experience.
• At least two years as a System Safety Engineer focused on software safety.

Responsibilities

• Lead software safety analyses, testing, and risk assessments.
• Document and track software safety anomalies from identification through mitigation.
• Define software LOR tasks based on criticality and map contributions to risk.
• Perform peer reviews of C++/C# source code.
• Prepare data packages, SRHA, and SAR analyses.
• Present to WSESRB and SSSTRP; defend conclusions before panels.
• Coordinate and deliver Safety Risk Management materials to customers.
