Job summary

The Judge Group is seeking a Lead Software System Safety Engineer in Dahlgren, VA to lead safety analyses, hazard assessments, and software safety testing for critical systems within a complex engineering program.

The role requires 8+ years in software or systems engineering, 4+ years in software system safety, strong C++/C# skills, and proven ability to document safety artifacts and present to stakeholders. A hybrid work arrangement is offered.

Qualifications

• Experience in software/system safety analyses and safety verification.
• Strong understanding of system safety standards and best practices.
• Proven ability to develop and maintain safety documentation and reports.

Responsibilities

• Lead software and system safety analyses across the software development lifecycle.
• Conduct hazard analyses, risk assessments, and software safety testing.
• Develop, document, track, and resolve software safety anomalies and corrective actions.
• Perform Software Level of Rigor (LOR) activities per program requirements.
• Review architectures, designs, and source code for hazards and risks.
• Conduct code-level hazard analyses for C++ and C# applications.
• Create and maintain SARs, FHA, SRHA, and Software-Centric Safety Assessment Reports.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to define and verify safety requirements.
• Deliver technical presentations to internal and external stakeholders.
• Support safety reviews, technical review boards, and system certification.
