SoftWriters, Inc. in Pittsburgh invites an experienced Manager of Software Engineering to lead and grow our engineering teams as we modernize our product portfolio.

You will champion an agent-first, AI-enabled software development culture and ensure delivery excellence across multiple projects. The role requires strong technical and people leadership, Scrum experience, and a proactive approach to adopting new AI tools while maintaining high quality and collaboration across departments.

Qualifications

• BS in CS or related field or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years hands-on technical leadership and people leadership.
• Experience building and leading diverse engineering teams.
• Experience with Scrum teams and self-organized teams.
• Advanced software design and development knowledge; CS fundamentals.
• Experience with SOLID, IOC/DI, ORM, unit testing; databases.
• Ability to lead through tooling/process/tech changes while supporting people.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple technology projects and the teams delivering them.
• Hire and scale engineering teams; ensure alignment with strategy.
• Collaborate across teams to drive progress and value each sprint.
• Mentor engineers; promote clear, tested code and best practices.
• Drive adoption of AI-assisted development within SDLC.
• Support Scrum practices; manage performance and development.
• Foster a culture of learning, integrity, and ownership.
