Job summary

Ally is seeking a hands-on Principal Software Engineer to lead the design, development, and support of dealer-facing applications. You will drive secure, scalable platforms across front-end, back-end, APIs, and cloud infrastructure with a focus on usability, reliability, and production excellence.

You will mentor engineers, shape standards, and collaborate with product teams to continually improve dealer experience and platform stability, in a hybrid role serving the Detroit and Charlotte

Qualifications

• 7+ years of relevant experience or equivalent
• Bachelor’s Degree in [insert relevant field(s) of study] or equivalent
• 4+ years of hands‑on cloud engineering experience with AWS
• Strong CI/CD and DevOps experience
• Code reviews to enforce quality
• Engineering standards for reliability and maintainability
• Hands‑on AI tooling for software engineering productivity

Responsibilities

• Lead end‑to‑end full-stack engineering across front-end, back-end, APIs, data, and cloud infrastructure
• Develop secure, scalable REST APIs and microservices
• Design event‑driven serverless patterns using AWS
• Build React/Next.js front‑ends with TypeScript and CSS
• Coordinate release management and deployment readiness
• Mentor engineers and uphold engineering standards
• Collaborate with product and architecture teams to improve dealer workflows
