Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to design, develop, test, and deploy end-to-end web applications within a hybrid work model. The role focuses on both front-end and back-end development, cloud infrastructure, and scalable architectures across GM IT platforms.

You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams at our Austin and Warren sites, mentor juniors, participate in code reviews, and stay current with industry best practices to deliver high-quality software

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or related field.
  • 7+ years of professional software development experience as a Full Stack Engineer.
  • Proficiency with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, React, Angular, and Java/Spring Boot.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop scalable web applications using modern front-end and back-end technologies.
  • Build robust system infrastructure and database solutions.
  • Evaluate architectural trade-offs and apply synchronous/asynchronous design patterns.
  • Write clean, well-tested code for client and server components.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project scope and deliver high-quality software.
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize application performance.
  • Ensure security, data protection, and code quality standards.
  • Perform software testing and quality assurance.
  • Participate in code reviews and mentor junior developers.
  • Stay updated with emerging technologies and best practices.
  • Lead small-to-medium scale projects aligned with business goals.
