Job summary

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) in Poway, CA, seeks a team lead to guide a small group of engineers/developers in designing, developing and modifying end-user, system-level, and data management software applications to achieve project objectives.

You will coordinate through the requirements, design, development, integration and test phases, with focus on tactical execution and adherence to processes. A DoD Secret clearance is required to perform this role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's, Master’s, or PhD in computer science or related field plus progressive software development experience (as applicable).
• Fluency in Python and Python-based big data analysis libraries in Linux environments.
• Strong understanding of software development concepts, principles and theory.
• Experience as a technical lead or informal lead on software tasks or small projects is desirable.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interfacing with professionals and documenting results.
• Ability to work independently and as a team lead; extended hours as needed; DoD Secret clearance required.

Responsibilities

• Lead a small team of engineers to design, develop, and modify end-user, system-level, and data management software applications.
• Plan software development activities by breaking down plans into tasks and work packages for the team.
• Lead coding, testing, and documentation to meet schedules and quality requirements.
• Support deployment of applications across the enterprise and coordinate resources with other groups.
• Perform and oversee code maintenance, debugging, and updates in a evolving environment.
• Provide input for future applications based on new technologies and current work observations.
• Communicate status, issues, and risks with the software group, users, and management.
• Provide daily direction, task assignment, progress monitoring, and issue resolution guidance.
• Assist in training and mentoring team members.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
