Job summary

KPMG LLP in Montvale, NJ is seeking a Lead Engineer I to join our Tax Ignition Team. This hybrid role combines hands-on software development with systems architecture to deliver AI-powered features and robust APIs.

You will architect and maintain microservices, build client-facing apps in Angular and Python/.NET, and deploy on Azure. The role requires curiosity about Generative AI and a proactive approach to learning.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of software development and systems architecture experience.
• Bachelor's degree in CS, engineering or related field preferred; Master's desired.
• Solid understanding of microservices, RESTful APIs, and authentication/authorization.
• Experience building enterprise systems using Python, .NET, C#, Angular, SQL and Azure preferred.
• Strong Python skills and experience with ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn).

KPMG is currently seeking a Lead Engineer I to join our Tax Ignition Team. This is a hybrid work opportunity out of our Montvale, NJ location.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with product owners and data scientists to translate business needs into AI-powered features and APIs
• Architect, develop, and maintain scalable microservices for model inference (on Azure or similar)
• Build and maintain client-facing web apps in Angular + TypeScript, Python or .NET Framework/C# backend services and APIs, secure SQL databases (T-SQL, schema design, stored procs)
• Leverage Azure services (App Services, Functions, SQL Database, DevOps) for deployment, scaling and monitoring
• Integrate Large Language Models (LLMs) and other AI services (such as Azure OpenAI, Custom Models Serving) into our front-end and back-end systems
• Strong curiosity and growth mindset in Generative AI, evidenced by ongoing self-learning, active engagement with the latest industry developments, and a portfolio of independent projects demonstrating practical application of new concepts
• Act with integrity, professionalism, and personal responsibility to uphold KPMG's respectful and courteous work environment
